My Background

I got elected to Seanad Éireann on Monday, 23rd November 2009. I am the the youngest member of either the Seanad or the Dáil and at 26 years of age, this is a massive honour.

Once again, I want to thank everyone who voted for me in June’s Louth County Council elections. To receive over a quota of 1,495 votes in the first count in my first ever election was a great culmination of a lot of hard work. You have placed a lot of trust in me and I hope that I repay that with hard work on your behalf. My priorities in the Seanad now are:

- stimulating employment, working hand-in-hand with the Louth Economic Forum who have an ambitious target of creating 12,000 additional jobs in Louth between now and 2015;

- being an advocate for improved disability services and;

- ensuring improved sporting and recreational facilities.

I have also been working very hard for commuters’ rights since the collapse of the Dublin-Belfast rail line at Malahide viaduct in August and this work is ongoing.

If there is anything I can assist you with, please do not hesitate to write to me at my Seanad Éireann office in Leinster House. Alternatively, please ring or text me at 087-7535653 or email me at james.m.carroll@gmail.com.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

James.
